Planning Consultant

Worksop| £15 – £25 per hour

Our prestigious client has extensive experience within its specialist industry sector. This is a small and friendly company experiencing rapid growth within the Renewables business. Operating predominantly within the agricultural sector they are now looking to recruit an experienced Planning Consultant to join their successful team. This is a unique opportunity to join an established company offering career progression and stability.

Skills/ Experience  required:

  • A Planning Degree recognised by the RTPI with a minimum of 2 years’ experience or at least 10 years’ experience in a planning office undertaking duties of high responsibility
  • A thorough understanding of the planning process, including committee meetings and appeals
  • Experience of undertaking planning consultancy projects including planning appraisals and pre-application consultations, policy analysis, co-ordinating and managing the preparation of planning applications, and preparing planning documentation is a pre-requisite
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of literacy
  • Ability to produce maps and plans would be advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or work self-motivated in isolation from other team members
  • A positive “can do” attitude
  • Previous experience of working with renewable energy would be advantageous but not essential

Reporting directly to the Directors your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of planning briefs and applications
  • Delivering planning applications for Renewable Energy projects in rural areas and agricultural developments
  • Assist in developing the planning business through delivery of high quality outputs and assisting with business developing activities
  • Carry out planning appraisals and pre-application consultations
  • Coordinate and manage the preparation of planning applications and prepare planning documentation including Planning Statements, Environmental Statements, Design & Access Statements and planning application forms
  • Interacting and liaising with the developers
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to be compliant with relevant legislation and guidance, meet client deadlines and within budgeted time and costs


Hours of Work:

Two – Three days per week 9.00am – 5.00pm, however a degree of flexibility will be required due to the nature of the role.
