Business Development Manager

Our prestigious client the UK’s leading energy consultant and carbon delivery partner to individuals, businesses and communities throughout the UK. Due to continued expansion they are looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to join their successful team. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing and successful national market leader and work in a team who collectively achieves excellence.

The Role:

Originating from a proven sales background the Business Development Manager will play a key role as part of the Commercial Team to identifying opportunities, grow the business, establish relationships with clients and enhance our clients’ position as market leader in developing innovative energy and carbon reduction solutions.

• Passionate about sales and client negotiation
• Professional, friendly and outgoing personality with strength of character
• Proven track record of exceeding sales targets – business to business
• High achiever with a systematic approach to delivering substantial targets
• Exceptional interpersonal skills leading to the closure of business transactions
• Confident speaker with exceptional presentational skills (written and face to face)
• Commercial awareness
• Initiative and self driven
• Excellent attention to detail
• Organisational and administration skills
• Flexibility to travel (within a defined area)
• Confident, team player with a pro-active and motivated approach to own workload
• Proven track record in selling to local governments and housing associations
• Proven track record in selling energy contracts to commercial businesses
• Qualifications in business and/or marketing would be beneficial but not essential
• Knowledge of ECO, Green Deal or the carbon reduction industry
• Knowledge of energy procurement and consultancy

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager your main responsibilities will include:

• Establish strong relationships and develop a client base that has specific requirements for our energy procurement, funding and contracting services
• Deliver multi million pound sales budgets, in accordance with required statutory guidelines
• Work with the Bid Manager to prepare bid documents and develop complex scheme management proposals, negotiate and close
• Manage accounts and ensure that we are providing the highest standards of customer service
• Prepare and deliver client seminars / presentations
• Provide weekly reports on area activity to the Commercial Manager
• Maintain and update an accurate database or prospective and existing clients
• Manage diary and meetings with the Commercial Support Team
• Provide marketing input and branding opportunities to the Marketing Department
• Visit and meet potential new clients and advise them through the complicated processes of ECO funding, Green Deal and the purchase and management of energy
• Work closely with the Operations Team in the implementation and handover of schemes
• Represent the company in a professional and trusted manner
• Maintaining industry knowledge and competitor intelligence
• Respond to administrative requests in a timely and efficient manner
